Anonymous asked: Why can't people like the things they like? If a black kid really likes manga and gaming and idk fucking robotics or some shit why is that something to shame them for? I understand where your idea is coming from but that seems like it's limiting black people's freedoms to have interests other than stereotypical "oh you must like rap music and basketball." Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but it seems like you're passing judgment.
Ur getting defensive.
I never demonized any Black ppl who like manga and anime, pls do not try to victimize yourself lol.
I was pointing out how when trying to distance themselves from Blackness, they tend take up these subcultures (& have fetishes to go along with these) and believe things are “post racial”.
I am a Black kid who likes anime and alternative rock? Yeah. Do I know plenty of Black ppl who r into the sams things I’m into who have an anti-black mentality? Hell yeah.
I never said you can’t like what you like. I’m being critical of the brainwashing a lot of Black kids who get into these things tend to have.
Please go try to make yourself a victim somewhere else.
I think about this concept all. the. time.
whatchu mean? Like what part?
The whole thing with black kids having a severe anti black mentality. Liking what you like is fine, aint no issue with that. But developing these obsessions & like you said, fetishizing aspects of many other cultures & feel that they’re somehow/somewhat “one of the good ones” & they’re completely ashamed of their blackness. So they change every single thing about themselves that they can to seem “less black” & It’s just…Stahp that you’re amazing
Thank u!!! U get what I’m saying completely!
To make this a personal attack is just bullshit.
I was TOTALLY that black kid who thought she was better than the other niggas cause I watched animie and didn’t listen to rap so I feel you
